Receiving SMS sent from Email (preset sending)

This makes it easy for clients and friends to stay in touch while you are on the move by sending you an email which reaches your mobile phone as an SMS text message. Also useful for receiving alert notifications on your mobile such as eBay bidding alerts.

Once you have set up a SMS-Messaging account (click here) you will create an email address, not necessarily your 'from' email address, such as MikesMobile@x-onsms.com (subject to availability) and enter a mobile number where the SMS messages will be sent, for example your own mobile phone number. Now anyone, or any notification service, can send an email to MikesMobile@x-onsms.com and you'll receive the message as a text message on your mobile.

For each email sent to MikesMobile@x-onsms.com your account will be charged 1 credit per SMS. The cost may vary depending on the location of the your mobile phone. Messages can also be forwarded to your usual email address, providing you with a copy of the email (subject to a 2Mb limit per email).

You can select an initial number of outgoing messages limit in your SMS-Messaging account, if the limit is one for example, only the first 160 characters including the subject are sent initially, with the option for the recipient to respond with 'MORE' to receive all of the message.

The facility exists to set up multiple such addresses connected to different mobile phone numbers. As an example this would allow you to setup an address and mobile number for various staff members making it easy to contact them from your desktop PC or laptop while they are out of the office.
